Robin finally got a couple of surfs in at Agnes Waters , his last surf for quite some time, as we now leading into unknown territory for us. On Wednesday we arrive at Cool Waters Holiday Village at Kinka Beach, another lovely caravan park, unfortunately for us not many people holidaying at the moment due to the floods and the still now constant rain and showers. Not many happy hours to report, hopefully as we head inland more things will improve in that area. Whilst at Yeppoon we spent a few days site seeing going to the township of Byfield which has an amazing pottery/art/craft studio where everything is made there. (pictures below). We also saw the singing ship at Emu Park unfortunately it sings as well as Sharyn does at the Royal on Karaoke night. We looked across to Great Keppel Island from our van park, but the waters were so muddy and the sky's grey, so not at all like on the postcards, but can imagine how beautiful if would be with the white sands and clear water, couldnt go snorkeling because of the dirty water, will have to do that another trip.
Croc |
We left on Saturday to go to Rockhampton, but ending up staying at Gracemere Caravan Park, Gracemere's claim to fame is that it has the largest Stock Yards in the Southern Hemisphere, with sales on every day, may stop over and have a look when we leave tomorrow morning, should be some interesting sites, (ie men, cattle horses dogs etc etc). and muddy yards. We went to the Croc Farm at Koorana which has over 3,000 crocs there. They sell croc meat, croc pies, croc kebabs, croc steaks, beautiful handbags, wallets, belts shoes, really lovely but very expensive, a little address book $150.00, handbags from $400 onwards and onwards, mens belts $200 so needless to say no souvenirs from there. We were lucky enough to watch 2 baby crocs hatch, hold a youngster and get up really close and personal to the big fellars, the family have run the farm for 30 odd years, and it was certainly worth going to. Great time. The park we are in at the moment read very well in the write ups, shady, lots of birds, peaceful, They apparently didnt feel the need to say that it is right next to the railway lines which the coal trains with 100 carriages, yes 100 carriages go all day and night, so last night I was not counting sheep, just train carriages, maybe I will need a brandy tonight. Tomorrow we are off to Emerald so until next week Love to everyone. R & R & D.xxxxxx
