It was good to get on the road again and we travelled to Coolalinga, south of Darwin. We were going to stay a,t Katherine but it was a public holiday and decided to travel on. When we arrived at Coolalinga, WHOA and behold John and Bronwyn are there, so here we go again, they invited us to go on a magical mystery tour with them, so we leave the Caravan Park and off we go to Mandorah, 2 dogs that really dont like each other, 4 adults pretending to like each other (only joking) and a picnic lunch, and off we go. It was about an hours drive via Darwin Dam and a lot of interesting country side, silly us thinking once we got there we would get a ferry over to Darwin, no no no, it was only a passenger ferry. So we have to do the return trip to Darwin great after being on the road all of yesterday I have to face up to another couple of hours drive. Anyway after we did our touristy bit around Darwin and dipped our feet in the Timor Sea, we had our picnic lunch at Fanny Bay, was promised table and chairs, but as it turned out, sit on the grass with the locals, GREAT, Anyway back to the beautiful shady, grassy, caravan park for drinkies. Great Day.
Today (one just rolls into another). we are having a R & R day , waiting for my gorgeous South African guy to come and fix our air conditioner, you guessed it, ours blows up in Darwin, $420.oo we have cold air, anyway celebrated this with a lovely roast pork with beautiful crackling (sorry Tricia you were not here to share it with us) Robin Dawson and I went back to Darwin today to finalise our sightseeing, I can not get over how the local aborigines behave, they are a truly messy mob. they just plonk their bodies down wherever they please, footpath, shop entrance, just anywhere, you need to see it to believe it. We are back at Katherine now and John and Bronwyn looked after Dawson while Robin and I did a 4 hour cruise on the Katherine Gorge (Nimbulik) in the other lingo. It was amazing with me being able to cross off one of things on my bucket list, a swim under a waterfall in the amazing outback. truly incredible. John and Robin have been trying to catch a barra, but so far no luck,. Anway back to our cruise, we saw 7 fresh water crocs, ranging from babies to big guys. and lots of different birds, plants etc. a great day, everyone should do this. An aspect of the NT which I am amazed with is the filth the Aboringines leave on there riverbanks and streets, McDonalds, plastic bags, bottles, Subway you name it (white mans rubbish. You have to see this to believe it. Until next week, Bye for now.
